And what the frame builder said is interesting. Maybe it's the real reason why moving the screws can change the handling of the bike, if ever so slightly.Justine Valinottihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10852069587181432102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908461644259659419.post-25510838854240422052016-11-22T18:27:32.249-08:002016-11-22T18:27:32.249-08:00Recently a local master frame builder told me that...Recently a local master frame builder told me that the purpose of the dropout adjusters was more for altering the head angle than shortening the wheelbase.

Who knew?

i'd always assumed they were for fine-tuning the position of the rear derailleur or for centering a wheel that wasn't quite dished properly. mike w.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10317710564489321690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908461644259659419.post-44312259690052298902016-11-22T18:15:30.806-08:002016-11-22T18:15:30.806-08:00One day a customer came into our shop asking to ha...One day a customer came into our shop asking to have his front brake adjusted- he said it just suddenly went out of whack. We were very busy in the back, so the boss grabbed some tools and attempted the task. i looked out from the workshop and noted his vain attempt to get the pads low enough to hit the rim, his reddening face, and his silent cursing. i casually walked up and, looking over his shoulder, remarked offhandedly, "The fork's bent, boss" and sauntered back to my workstand.
i'll always treasure the memory of the look he shot me.mike w.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10317710564489321690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908461644259659419.post-7273591935394105782016-11-22T17:42:24.330-08:002016-11-22T17:42:24.330-08:00Am I the only one who has ever wondered why grates...Am I the only one who has ever wondered why grates are in the roadway at all!? Let alone lined up with direction of traffic. saw someone bend a wheel hitting one like that on a corner! Grates just make the roadways effectively so much narrower as the roadway always breaks up round grates first! Colinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01667939789517989280noreply@blogger.com
