They always seem to happen on runs to the grocer rather than down a mountain.<br /><br />Anon--I agree with you completely. For a time in my life, I was doing some of the crazy off-road stuff you describe. Now that I'm in my early '60's, I tend to just ride conservatively so I can ride another day. But reading the articles online, it's as if one has to speed up mountain climbs and descend mountain roads like a daredevil for cycling to be enjoyable. Far from it. Riding is enjoyable enough.
