Personally, I rarely use more than two speeds of my Shimano 7-speed rear hub. I don't use any front shifting.Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908461644259659419.post-63630218471270458852014-10-17T10:11:51.060-07:002014-10-17T10:11:51.060-07:00Meligrosa--You have a bike like that one? I'm envious!

MT--Although I think it's great that people have "rediscovered" Dutch-style bikes, I still think one of the best urban/commuter/transportation bikes one can have is an old mountain bike (like the Stumpjumper) with internal gears (or a single speed, depending on where you live) and fenders. I actually saw an early Stumpjumper set up that way before the sweet young things "discovered" Dutch-style and city bikes. (Actually, now that I think of it, some of those sweet young things might not have been born yet. I'm getting old!)Justine Valinottihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10852069587181432102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908461644259659419.post-7322995193973832742014-10-16T19:43:22.719-07:002014-10-16T19:43:22.719-07:00I customized my first tenspeed, a '73 Motobeca...I customized my first tenspeed, a '73 Motobecane Mirage, by removing the pressed steel chainguard, ditching the suicide brake levers, moving the shift levers from the stem to the downtube and upgrading from steel to alloy rims. It saved a few ounces, no doubt, but more importantly the bike looked "racier." I really like those VO chainguards and am considering one for my winter bike project, a repurposed Stumpjumper with an internal gear hub, dynamo lighting and drum brakes. I have a pair of studded tires that I'll install if the snow piles up like last winter.MT cyclisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17451590809473759574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8908461644259659419.post-83224312534438443532014-10-16T17:37:57.896-07:002014-10-16T17:37:57.896-07:00that is so similar to mi blue bike<3 so rare to...that is so similar to mi blue bike<3 so rare to see another in real-life, makes me smile when seeing a foto online. thanks for sharing Justine :)MELI.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01871688353021351859noreply@blogger.com
