Once, a driver’s tirade against me included the rant, “I pay road taxes!”
As calmly as I could, I responded, “Well, I do too.” I then pointed out that the only tax he pays, and I don’t, is on gasoline.
Had I been a different sort of person, this might’ve been my response:
For the most part, roads that allows cyclists are paid for by
ReplyDeleteproperty taxes. So, I think that it is likely that I paid more in
property taxes then most drivers do in vehicle taxes.
Why does the amount of taxes matter? Does that mean
that a rich cyclist who owns a very large house has more
right to use local roads then a poor driver who rents!?
