I've just completed a double century.
OK...This is my 200th post on this blog. Is this an Imperial or Metric double century?
Have you ever done either kind of double century? What is the most you've ridden in one day?
I'll confess that I've never done a double imperial century, though I've done a couple of metric double centuries (about 125 miles).
Have you done a century of any kind since the beginning of the new year? Do you plan to do any this year?

I'm going to try a super randonneur series this spring - 200, 300, 400, & 600K rides by June 4th. We'll see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteThe farthest I've ridden (to date) in one day is 162 miles. No centuries yet this year, but when it hits 50F, I hope to try one.
Congratulations on your 200th post. Since we live in America, Imperial or Metric don't really work. How about a "Democratic" Double Century?
I've never done a double imperial century. Even when I first did a regular century for the first time, I was reminded of the song "...if that's all there is, then let's keep dancing."
ReplyDeleteI felt a much bigger accomplishment was riding over 5000 miles in a year. I leave it to your imagination what that might equate to in blogging terms.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, on your journey to blogging immortality, I know at least one reader that would LOVE to hear more about Mercians on a day that you are lacking other inspiration.
I've pulled a couple centuries on tour, fully loaded no less! I think I have it in me to do a Double Imperial Century at some point. I think all the randonneuring my friends do is rubbing off on me!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 200th post. I have never done a century, but who knows what the future holds with the right kind of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI was young when faced with an empty bank account and 400 miles distant from the family home and free board and lodging for the summer. fuelled by chocolate bars and bananas it took three days and three hours.
